Patrick Caverhill Beatty will be remembered for his warmth, intelligence, curiosity, and remarkable ability to make people feel welcome. His sudden death in an automobile accident on September 23, 2026, cut short a promising life and left his family, friends, colleagues, and newlywed wife, Nabiha Paracha, facing an unimaginable loss.
Born on March 15, 1988, Patrick spent his early years in Fergus before moving to Ottawa in 1995. He attended Ashbury College, where he developed lasting friendships and discovered his interests in dramatic arts and creative writing. He later earned an undergraduate degree from Western University and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Calgary. At the time of his death, he was pursuing an MBA at Dalhousie University.
Patrick built a career in Canada’s energy sector, working with Suncor Energy in Calgary before joining Pattern Energy in Toronto. His responsibilities included strengthening relationships between the energy industry and Indigenous communities. Colleagues remembered his approachable personality, kindness, and welcoming smile.
The loss of his older brother, Christopher, in a motorcycle accident in Thailand profoundly shaped Patrick’s outlook. He became an advocate for organ donation and engaged in politics, driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to his community.
Patrick married Nabiha on September 19, 2026, in an outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Muskoka. The couple had recently made an offer on a home together, looking forward to building their future. Tragically, Nabiha was also hospitalized following the crash.
Patrick is survived by Nabiha, his parents, Julia and Perrin Beatty, and the extended Beatty and Paracha families.
A celebration of life is scheduled for October 17 at Ashbury College in Ottawa, followed by burial at Beechwood Cemetery beside Christopher.
Patrick’s legacy lives on through the relationships he nurtured, the work he valued, and the kindness remembered by those who knew him.
